Third Round

Sam Jones out of Arizona State is an interesting prospect. With his frame of 6-foot-5, 305 pounds, he could play multiple positions along an NFL offensive line. While he played mostly guard at Arizona State, he might end up being a reliable swing tackle at the next level. Seemingly, only center would be out of question for the guy.

While he does not possess a high ceiling as an NFL prospect, you can never have too many versatile offensive linemen on your roster. Buffalo will continue to win games if it can pound the rock continuously with running back LeSean McCoy on the back-end of his prime. However, it may be most crucial to win in terms of pass protection with a young quarterback like Josh Allen coming into the fold.

Since Allen might be forced to start early, it is probably in the Bills’ best interest to go after several key offensive line positions in what looks to be a deep draft for the position group. Last year was especially terrible along the offensive line. Maybe Jones could be a rotational player in the third round at No. 96?

Yes, that would be reaching for him a tad at that draft position, but Buffalo must address the offensive line this spring to have any shot of getting back into the AFC playoffs in 2018. Jones doesn’t have the potential star power of Will Hernandez coming out of UTEP, but both could be offensive line teammates for years to come in Buffalo.
