After spending the first four years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, Jerick McKinnon will be searching for an increased role elsewhere.

Jerick McKinnon has quietly put up some impressive numbers with the Vikings. Selected in the third round of the 2014 draft, the former Georgia Southern standout has played mostly in a committee role in Minnesota, caddying for Adrian Peterson and Dalvin Cook.

Still, McKinnon has shown potential for a featured back role. The25-year-old has averaged a solid 4.0 yards per carry throughout his rookie deal, and had more than 500 rushing yards in each of the last two seasons. More impressively, McKinnon can catch the ball coming out of the backfield, notching 94 receptions over the past two seasons, along with four receiving touchdowns.

Best fits

1. New York Jets

New York has to find some semblance of an offensive attack in 2018, and McKinnon could help lead the charge. Alongside Elijah McGuire, McKinnon could help to give whoever the quarterback is some relief, both keeping the defense honest against the run and pass.

2. Oakland Raiders

Oakland has to figure out the best way to approach a new day under Jon Gruden. Assuming Grudenw as serious about playing football like it’s 1998, the Raiders need a better plan for the ground game. Marshawn Lynch will be the top option, but Jalen Richard struggled in 2017 and doesn’t have great size. McKinnon would be a much better option to play alongside Lynch.

3. Seattle Seahawks

Seattle has to find a successor to Lynch. Since his departure following the 2015 season, the Seahawks have not been able to consistently run the ball (the offensive line has also been terrible). The experiment with Thomas Rawls needs to either end or be supplemented, and McKinnon would be a great choice for the cap-strapped organization.
