Seattle Seahawks: 5 offseason needs
4. Find another top target for Russell Wilson
Doug Baldwin doesn’t get enough credit for his evolution as a receiver, in part because the Seahawks have been so inefficient at putting quality players around him. Plus, so many of the highlight reel plays in this offense comes from Russell Wilson magic and we end up focusing on the Houdini act in the pocket and not Baldwin breaking some corner’s ankles with a ridiculous route.
Paul Richardson creates explosive plays but isn’t a consistent down-to-down player. He’s hitting free agency this spring, as is the disappointing Jimmy Graham who was supposed to transform this offense.
Tyler Lockett never became more than what we saw as a rookie with his dynamic speed and playmaking. That leaves the Seahawks in need of guys to get open for Wilson. This is a deep receiver class, if not a supremely talented one. But if a big body like Courtland Sutton were somehow around in the first round when Seattle picked, that’s a match made in heaven.
In free agency, Donte Moncrief could be a plus Jermaine Kearse replacement while Marqise Lee could give them the big play element they got from Richardson.
