Seattle Seahawks: 5 offseason needs
2. Find Richard Sherman’s heir apparent
That doesn’t mean having to find Sherman 2.0. That guy probably doesn’t exist. Sherman is unique, special in a way we simply haven’t seen in the league in a long time with his length, size, background, and development.
There’s a reason teams love 6’2 corners now and he wears No. 24 in blue and gray.
But coming off a serious injury, and recently off a setback, the Seahawks likely won’t be able to rely on him much longer to anchor their defense. Plus, beyond him, there’s not much in the way of proven playmakers at corner.
Shaquill Griffin developed as a rookie and this coaching staff loves him, but Byron Maxwell on a rehabilitation project isn’t going to cut it. This team needs depth, and in a perfect world a future No. 1 corner.
It’s a great draft to need them and free agency boasts some talented names as well which means the Seahawks could reinvigorate this defensive backfield without having to rebuild.
