Sixth Round

New England does have to address the quarterback position in some capacity this offseason. While the Patriots still have Tom Brady playing at a high level and Brian Hoyer as more than a capable backup, New England did trade Jacoby Brissett to the Indianapolis Colts and Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers in the last calendar year.

Though New England could look for a quarterback in the third or fourth round, they might find a potential sleeper in round six in the former of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers’ Mike White. No, he’s not going to be like former sixth-rounder Brady, but the guy through for a ton of yards in during his five years in college.

While played his first two years in The American for the South Florida Bulls. However, he only completed 51.6 of his passes for 2,722 yards, 11 touchdowns and 16 picks in his two years down in Tampa. White would sit out the 2015 NCAA season when he transferred to Western Kentucky. In two years in Bowling Green, White completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 8,540 yards, 63 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Yes, the passing attack in Western Kentucky is notorious for putting up gaudy stats. However, White is 6-foot-5, 224 pounds and has plenty of arm talent. Adapting from a collegiate spread offense could be challenging for him, but White could have a role as a long-time backup in the league if he gets the right coaching early in his career.
