Fifth Round

A player that had great intrigued heading into 2017 was UMass Minutemen tight end Adam Breneman. He had played his last two years of college ball for the Minutemen, where he had 134 receptions for 1,572 yards and 12 touchdowns. In the right system, Breneman could be a good under-the-radar grab at tight end in this draft.

He has the necessary frame to be a reliable pass catcher as a tight end in the NFL at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds. That being said, he didn’t get invited to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine, so that could be a red flag. Somebody is going to end up taking Breneman in this draft. Might it be the Jets?

Sixth Round

It might be a younger program, but the South Alabama Jaguars seem to always have a player or two each year that ends up getting drafted. A guy the Jets could have some interest in would be Jeremy Reaves at safety.

He is 5-foot-11, 205 pounds and is the reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. Reaves is a great tackler that successfully made the transition from cornerback to safety in his senior season in Mobile. He finished college ball with 301 career tackles (208 solo, 93 assists), 22 pass breakups, 20.5 tackles for a loss of yardage, 8 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 1.5 quarterback sacks.

Seventh Round

In this era of college football, you never know what you are going to get out prospective offensive line products. May the Jets be willing to go to the FCS level to get an under-the-radar prospect in Maine Black Bears offensive tackle Jamil Demby in round seven?

Demby did the invite to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. He was listed at being 6-foot-4, 319 pounds. Demby might be a tad short to be a solid offensive tackle at the next level, but he’s not carrying a ton of weight. Perhaps he could kick inside to guard if need be? He’s worth a late-round pick in this draft for sure.
