Third Round

Though the Dolphins do already have Ndamukong Suh at defensive tackle, it would serve them to look at adding another defensive line prospect in this draft. It might be for depth at first, but there is something potentially special about senior defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi coming out of Florida State. He might be the pick at No. 73 for Miami in the third round.

Nnadi played all four years in Tallahassee for the ‘Noles. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 317 pounds. This would be a great size for the trendy undersized defensive tackles we’ve seen make a difference in the league. Nnadi could be the Miami version of Aaron Donald or Grady Jarrett if all goes according to plan.

He registered 165 total tackles (75 solo, 90 assists), 24.5 for a loss of yardage, 12.0 quarterback sacks, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his four years with the Seminoles. Nnadi proved to be a consistent player in his last two years playing for Jimbo Fisher at Florida State.

For drafting along the defensive line, it’s all about value. The question is if Nnadi would be worth the Dolphins’ third-round selection coming out of Florida State this year? He may be undersized, but has been a healthy and consistent player that has given the Dolphins plenty of tape to dissect on him.
