Bracketology: Midwest Region

Kansas worked their way into the one slot with a stellar finish, wrapping up the Big 12 regular season and tournament crowns — in the number one ranked RPI conference in NCAA basketball. The Dukies also closed out the season with a bit of momentum and have an experienced roster, a rarity for a Power 5 juggernaut.

It will be interesting to see where (or if) the Selection Committee inserts Middle Tennesee State, but they are more than deserving to be placed in this year’s March Madness bracket.

Villanova capped off a stellar season by winning the Big East tournament crown. Outside of a loss to St. Johns at home, their resume is without blemish. This Wildcats squad may be even more talented than the group who won it all in 2016.

The most intriguing case is the curious one of the Oklahoma Sooners. Will the selection committee include them for the sole reason of having Trae Young on their roster? We believe their quality wins outweigh all of their gaping holes. Send them to Dayton and see if they truly belong.
