New York Mets – Pitcher Noah Syndergaard wins the N.L. Cy Young

The National League certainly has a ridiculous amount of excellent starting pitchers and among them is Noah Syndergaard. The Dodgers  haveClayton Kewshaw, the Nationals have Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg, and the Giants’ Madison Bumgarner all call the Senior Circuit home. However, one man will rise above them to take home the National League Cy Young and he pitches for the New York Mets. Noah Syndergaard puts it all together in 2018 for his best season yet.

2017 saw Syndergaard only pitch 30 1/3 innings before having his season cut short due to a partially torn lat muscle. He appears to be back in full health for 2018 and his arm is completely fresh. He will carry a career 2.97 ERA into 2018 to go along with a K/9 rate of 10.3. In his 2016 season, Syndergaard finished eighth in Cy Young voting off the back of a 2.60 ERA and 218 strikeouts. His FIP(which attempts to measure a pitcher’s ERA based on outcomes he can control and not the defense) was a minuscule 2.29.

Syndergaard is poised for his best season yet at just the age of 25 years old. He has an overpowering arsenal to keep hitters off-balance and guessing every at-bat. Syndergaard is a complete package as a modern day pitcher who can touch high 90’s with a fastball and bring a devastating off-speed pitch next.

Despite having many heavyweight challengers around him, the man that carries the moniker of Thor will bring the thunder in 2018. The Mets team may not be better than a .500 squad. Syndergaard is going to be must see every time he toes the rubber this season.
