Ndamukong Suh released by Miami Dolphins: 3 best fits
Less than an hour ahead of the deadline, the Miami Dolphins have released defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Here are three possible fits.
The Miami Dolphins are going through a massive transition. They offloaded Jarvis Landry and now Suh. They also traded for Robert Quinn are rumored to bring in Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson. Call it a soft rebuild as Adam Gase is clearly still trying to compete in a tough AFC East division. It will be tough to see them rivaling the Patriots, but perhaps for a wildcard spot.
The news was first released by Adam Schefter and has been confirmed through other sources. The Dolphins couldn’t realistically afford Suh and probably didn’t want to deal with his antics anymore. His selfishness and lack of willingness to be a teammate has been documented since his days in Detroit.
Regardless, there will be more than one option for Suh in free agency. He is a disruptive force and teams crave that type of interior pass rush. He will find a new home and continue to destroy offensive lines for years to come.
Best Fits
1. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are trying to rebuild their roster, specifically the defense. Imagine how quickly things could change by signing Suh in free agency and drafting Bradley Chubb in April. That tandem would be extremely disruptive. The Colts have more than $60 million in cap space so money is no issue. It just comes down to whether the two sides have mutual interest. Suh would instantly be the best defensive lineman on the roster, which could be appealing for him.
2. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders need interior pass rush. They drafted Eddie Vanderdoes for that reason, but his ACL tear in Week 17 could hurt his offseason preparation. With Justin Ellis as more of a run-stopper and Denico Autry on the way out, the Raiders seriously lack a push from the middle. Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin would benefit immensely from having a disruptive force from the tackle position. The Raiders are strapped for cash and could easily be outbid, but Suh could take a little less if it means being on a winning team with a winning mentality.

3. New Orleans Saints
The Saints have needed a new defensive tackle since Nick Fairley was diagnosed with a heart condition. The Saints have a tremendous secondary with young star Marshon Lattimore, but their defensive line could be improved. Suh could be a wrecking ball paired up with Cameron Jordan. Adding Suh would help their chances at competing in a very tight NFC South division. With Drew Brees coming back and the young talent they have elsewhere, the Saints adding another veteran on defense could go a long way.
