4. Loyola over Miami at the buzzer

Loyola has been one of the more popular upset picks in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, so that’s why the Ramblers beating the Miami Hurricanes in the first round isn’t the biggest surprise of the first round.

However, it was shocking enough to earn a mention. Miami was expected to be a drastically improved ACC contender this season after being bounced in the first round a year ago by Michigan State, but that didn’t quite happen.

The Hurricanes had a chance to put the game away with a crucial free throw to put the Hurricanes up by two with seconds left, but a miss gave Loyola new hope as they brought the ball up the court quickly.

And then magic happened. Donte Ingram got a pass with a couple of seconds left at the top of the arc and he drained a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to beat the Hurricanes.

The upset wasn’t the biggest surprise in this year’s tournament as the Ramblers were red-hot going into the tournament and Miami was somewhat of a wild card. Loyola will get another shot to pull off an unthinkable upset against No. 3 Tennessee on Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16.
