Twin brothers Cody and Caleb Martin are playing phenomenal basketball at the perfect time and Nevada looks like a scary team heading into the Sweet 16. The Wolf Pack weren’t exactly challenged by elite teams this season, but they took down a tough Texas team in overtime in round one and then stormed back from 22 points down to beat 2-seed Cincinnati in the second round. The Wolf Pack are the cockroach of the remaining Sweet 16 teams — they just won’t die.

Texas A&M was one of the hottest teams in college basketball at the beginning of the year before fading in conference play. In fact, the Aggies had just a 9-9 record in the SEC, which may have been slightly overrated, but they are playing their best basketball of the season. Texas A&M is coming off its best win of the year, slamming defending champion North Carolina in the second round to advance to the Sweet 16. The Aggies’ region is wide open.

Doubters of West Virginia have stretched far and wide heading into the NCAA Tournament, but so far the Mountaineers are silencing them. Unfortunately, West Virginia’s two tournament wins have come against No. 12 and No. 13 seeds, respectively. However, many pegged first-round foe Murray State as an upset candidate only to lose to the Mountaineers by 17. Marshall suffered the same fate in the second round with a 23-point defeat. We may find out just how good the Mountaineers are in the Sweet 16 against Villanova.

Clemson is a tough team that started the season 14-1 only to struggle in conference play a bit and end the year with five losses in the final eight games. The Tigers still earned a 5-seed and got a tough draw with New Mexico State in the first round. They beat the Aggies by 11 to advance to round two and a battle with 4-seed Auburn. Bruce Pearl’s team looked to be slightly favored, but Clemson dismantled the Tigers from start to finish, 84-53. This team may be better than previously advertised.
