The Washington Redskins failed to make the playoffs once again in 2017, and the organization felt it was time to move in a new direction. The Redskins traded for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, who has led the Chiefs to three straight playoff berths. While Smith has proven to be an elite regular season quarterback, he has yet to perform in the playoffs, so that is something to keep an eye on.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Redskins need help on all three levels of the unit. One area of need is in the middle at linebacker, and they may look to go that route during the 2018 NFL Draft. Roquan Smith is considered by many to be the best middle linebacker in this draft class, and he would be a nice fit in Washington.

Smith played huge for the Georgia Bulldogs during their run towards the national title game. He was the MVP of the SEC title game, and then went on to be the Defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl during the College Football Playoff. Smith is going to lead this offense, and Smith could wind up being that leader on defense that this team has been lacking for quite some time now.
