29. Cleveland Browns

We knew the Browns had all the cap space and draft picks in the world and it was only a matter of time before they made an offseason splash. Through trades and free agent signings, it’s hard not to like what the Browns have done in the early portions of the offseason. Having a competent general manager and front office pieces sure seems to make a difference.

Three days before the start of the legal tampering period the Browns made the blockbuster trade to acquire Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins. Given their cap flexibility, it was a steal for just a fourth and seventh-round draft pick. It didn’t stop there as the Browns acquired Tyrod Taylor and Demarious Randall shortly after. That’s a No. 1 wide receiver, starting safety and a solid bridge quarterback all in the matter of one day. Not too shabby for a team coming off a winless season.

You’d be mistaken to think the Browns would go quietly once the legal tampering period began. Dorsey continued acquiring talent, signing Chris Hubbard, Carlos Hyde and Darren Fells on the offensive end along with Travis Carrie and Terrance Mitchell in the secondary. When the entire roster needs to be revamped, every addition helps.

The Browns made a cannonball splash and free agency and still hold the No. 1 and No. 4 pick heading into April. Let’s hope free agency isn’t the only time we see them win but there’s a reason to be happy about being a Cleveland Browns fan.
