NFL power rankings: Vikings, Eagles fight for top spot
By Joe Schiller
24. Chicago Bears
This may be the last time you’ll see the Chicago Bears ranked towards the bottom of this list. General manager Ryan Pace has long been criticized but has his team set on new horizons with the hiring of head coach Matt Nagy. Keeping Vic Fangio as the defensive coordinator and hiring Mark Helfrich as the offensive coordinator pairs Nagy with a talented coaching staff to work with. To make matters even more exciting, the Bears made a gigantic splash in free agency.
Mitchell Trubisky has no excuse to make the sophomore jump we saw Carson Wentz and Jared Goff do last season. Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard aren’t solely the primary weapons anymore. Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton are all new additions to the offense. That’s an exciting group of weapons Trubisky will have to work with this season. Expect a fair share of touchdowns coming his way.
The defense was the strength of the team last season and the Bears did a crucial job at retaining talent on that side of the ball. Resigning Prince Amukamara and matching Kyle Fuller’s offer sheet brings back a very talented secondary. Aaron Lynch will reinforce an already strong pass rush led by Leonard Williams.
Once we see this team take the field in 2018, fans will be surprised to see just how much better they’ll be with all the offseason additions.
