2018 NBA Mock Draft: Where did the prospects go?
Brown is the player from a non-tournament team whom I have ranked highest, and though he would have benefitted from playing against elite competition, his inconsistency does not appear to be going away any time soon, regardless of opponent.
In Oregon’s first NIT game, Brown shot 0-3 from the field after a promising end to February, when the freshman started to take more offensive responsibility. He has been very inefficient this year on a Ducks roster bereft of top-line talent. The ball doesn’t know where to go in the half court for Oregon.
While Brown could have been more a part of the solution than the problem this year to realize his potential, Oregon’s failures are not his fault. This was going to be a rebuilding year for the program after saying goodbye to three players last June.
Brown needs to go to the combine and show scouts that his athleticism is equal to his physical tools and fluidity of movement. He looks spectacular sometimes making plays with the ball, but more than many of the freshmen in this class, Brown also looked lost from time to time, especially driving to the hoop.
With the Clippers re-tooling, they can afford to take a chance on someone with Brown’s potential.
