High Value PG

Elfrid Payton, PHO at ORL ($5,700): Admittedly, I’m only recommending Payton if you play a high risk-high reward lineup and you believe in the “revenge game” factor. Payton has been brutal for Phoenix for weeks now, missing value in eight straight and going 10-plus fantasy points under value in five of those games. He 6.4 fantasy points against the Cavaliers on Friday. But this is the team that gave up on him in February and sent him to Phoenix who happen to be 30th against the position in their last 15 games. The other guys on this list are more reliable. In fact, everyone around this salary, save for Isaiah Thomas, is more reliable. But a big night for Payton would not be surprising given the circumstances. **

Ish Smith, DET vs CHI ($5,600): Smith had 33.1 fantasy points against the Rockets on Thursday. Reggie Jackson is back in the fold, but he’s on a minutes restriction and looks very rusty coming off the knee injury. Smith is getting more minutes and has been over 30 fantasy points in his last three games. The matchup is good once again on Saturday as the Bulls are 22nd against the position in their last 15 games and on a back-to-back. ***

Cameron Payne, CHI at DET ($5,200): Payne was overvalue once again, finishing with 32.8 fantasy points against the Bucks on Friday. He’s logging big minutes as the starter and posts the second highest usage rate of any Chicago player in their last five games. The Pistons are 23rd against the position in their last 15 games. He needs 22.4 fantasy points to reach value on Saturday and should easily be over that number given recent play and the matchup. ***
