The Walking Dead spoilers: Did Rick get cut with an infected weapon?

Rick Grimes ended up being cut on The Walking Dead on Sunday night. Was he infected like other members of the Hilltop?

Another battle took place in a new episode of The Walking Dead on Sunday night. Simon led the Saviors to wipe out the remaining people at the Hilltop and ended up facing off with a fight that he wasn’t ready for.

While he lost plenty of Saviors in the process, Simon’s efforts weren’t completely wasted either. As evidenced in the episode, the infected weapons turned the injured into walkers and that led to a chaotic scene that unfolded.

There also was an interesting moment as well that occurred during the episode. While Rick Grimes is talking to Michonne, the latter asks to see his cut. It appears that Rick was cut in the battle, just as the others were.

However, he doesn’t appear to be infected in the episode either where others were suffering from a severe fever. So that begs the question of whether he was infected?

This is certainly the type of drama that should be expected over the last few episodes. With time remaining until the end of season 8, throwing Rick’s future fate in the mix makes sense with the way things have been building.

It was clear the infected weapons were going to come into play in a big way and they certainly did. Several of the Hilltop ended up turning, including Tobin who had to be put down by Carol, but after he already killed a few.

So, with that in mind, it all comes down to whether Rick’s cut came from an infected weapon. The likelihood of him being infected seems next to none, but it creates for an intriguing story rest of the way. Siddiq approached Rick wanting to clean his wound so it didn’t become infected. In the comics, Rick loses a hand, so could the writers be foreshadowing Rick losing his hand? Then again, Rick has had a wrap on his hand for what feels like multiple seasons now and he’s still got two hands.

Right now, the war turned the way of Rick’s people for the time being. Negan is out there with Jadis somewhere and Simon’s plan didn’t completely come to fruition. However, being cut is almost a death sentence as well.
