Fifth Round

With guys like Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and Mitchell Trubisky in the division, it is now more important than ever for the Lions to generate pressure coming off the edge. Look for them to take a guy like Jalyn Holmes out of Ohio State here at at No. 153 in the fifth round.

Holmes had 85 total tackles in college (41 solo, 44 assists), 15.0 for a loss of yardage, 5.0 quarterback sacks, four passes defended, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He is 6-foot-5, 283 pounds with 34-inch arms and 10-inch hands. Holmes ran a 4.82 40-yard dash at the combine and put up 25 reps at 225 on the bench press in Indianapolis.

Seventh Round

You know what? Let’s go with a wide receiver with the Lions’ last pick at No. 237 in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The pick here could be Jordan Lasley of the UCLA Bruins. Lasley had 113 career receptions for 1,901 yards and 14 touchdowns in three years in the Pac-12 with the Bruins.

He is 6-foot-1, 203 pounds. Lasley has 32 3/4 inch arms and 9 5/8 inch hands. He ran a 4.5 40-yard dash, but only put up eight reps at 225 pounds in the bench press. Lasley was productive in college, but does he have the frame to succeed in the NFL long-term? The Lions, or whomever drafts him, will find out soon enough.

* Detroit does not have a sixth-round pick. This stems from the Greg Robinson trade with the Los Angeles Rams before the start of the 2017 NFL season.
