2018 NFL Mock Draft: Sam Darnold goes to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Dallas Cowboys took a step back last season, but that was mostly due to the fact that their star running back was suspended for six games. Ezekiel Elliott really hurt his team by being out all those games in the middle of the season, and when he came back, it was too late. The Cowboys went from having the best record in the NFC, to not making the playoffs, though they should be back playing in January this season.
Elliott will be back for a full season, and Dak Prescott continues to impress at quarterback for the team. On defense, they got some great play from a young secondary, who really stepped up when a lot of the veterans flew the coop the previous offseason. They have the talent on both sides of the ball to challenge in the NFC East next season, but they need to get a better pass rush.
Enter Marcus Davenport, who is one of the more interesting prospects in this draft class. He played his college ball at UTSA, so there was not a lot of publicity covering him this season. However, he is a freakishly good athlete, and when it comes to players who can get the edge in this draft, there are very few who can hold a candle to him. He makes sense to Dallas at No. 19.
