2018 NFL Mock Draft: Sam Darnold goes to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Carolina Panthers made it back to the playoffs last season, after missing the postseason the year before. The year before that, the Panthers represented the NFC in the Super Bowl, although they were pasted by the Denver Broncos. This roster is loaded with talent heading into next season, though they could use some help at wide receiver, and that is where they should spend their first round pick.
Last year, the Panthers drafted Christian McCaffrey in the first round, and he had a terrific rookie season. The team led Jonathan Stewart walk this offseason, so it will definitely be a big dose of McCaffrey for the Panthers in 2018. Quarterback Cam Newton needs more weapons on offense, however, and they may draft another Christian in the first round this April.
That Christian is Christian Kirk, who is coming off a great Pro Day for Texas A&M. He is a very exciting wide receiver prospect, and possesses incredible size for a player that is as fast as he is. Kirk is going to be a legitimate option in the passing game in year one, and if Newton is healthy again in 2018, the Panthers should be able to make another run to the playoffs, and possibly with the division.
