28. Ottawa Senators (-1)

The struggles this year for the Ottawa Senators are well-documented. Erik Karlsson’s future and ownership have all been questioned at some point during the year and will lead to an entertaining offseason. The Senators were so close to the Stanley Cup Finals last year fast forward to this year and the Senators are not even close to making the playoffs. Part of the teams’ struggles have come in net; Craig Anderson has really had a difficult go of it this year. He has posted a career-high goals against average, allowing 3.32 goals per game. For the Senators to regain their playoff form they will need to figure out their off-ice situations first. Owner Eugene Melnyk needs to commit to the city of Ottawa and a decision on Erik Karlsson needs to be made.

To say this was a rough week for the Ottawa Senators would be an understatement. The Senators dropped five straight last week, pushing their losing streak to six games. Just about everything imaginable for this team has gone wrong. Injuries, bad luck and subpar goaltending all combined to push the Senators down the standings and into 30th position in the standings just three points ahead of the Buffalo Sabres. The Senators dropped games against the Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders and two games to the Carolina Hurricanes. The pain is almost over for Senators fans, as there are only six games left. Then Senators fans will get a few months off before they can panic about the future of the team and Karlsson.
