Chicago does not own a round-three pick, using it in the trade a year ago to trade up for Mitchell Trubisky.

Round 4 – Pick 105

Michael Gallup, WR, Colorado State

The signing of Allen Robinson depressed the urgency for the Bears to get a wide receiver in this draft. It actually works out for them. Instead of reaching on a player like Calvin Ridely in round one, they can sit back and wait on the position. It is a deep receiver corps entering the NFL, albeit lacking any star power of years passed. One benefit, like the corner position, the depth will push talented players down the board.

Michael Gallup of Colorado State was one of college football’s best wide receivers over the past two years. During his time in school, he was a menace for defensive coordinators all over the field. There are concerns because of the bad game he played against his best competition, Alabama. Outside of that Gallup checks most of the boxes for an NFL receiver.

At 6-foot-1 and running a 4.51 40, he has the size and speed combination to allow him to play on the outside. Gallup is still learning to be a better route runner but is strong enough in the area to succeed in the NFL. He has a knack for creating separation using both his body and quick sudden athletic movements at the top of routes. With Robinson and Burton soaking up targets it will allow Gallup to grow into a a second receiver role and make an impact there.
