Chicago Bears full 2018 NFL mock draft
By Joe Romano
Round 4 – Pick 115
Kylie Fitts, EDGE, Utah
Chicago has one of the most promising young pass rushers in Leonard Floyd. He has shown potential as a stand up rusher in his two seasons with the team. After releasing Willie Young, the starter opposite Floyd, a hole opened up. Chicago did sign former San Francisco 49ers’ edge rusher Aaron Lynch to try and fill the need. However, this team should still be investing a draft pick in an edge rusher. Based on the rest of the roster, Kylie Fitts, would mesh with what the Bears are looking for in their edge rushers.
Fitts looks very simliar to Floyd when he was coming out of Georgia. Both players are 6-foot-4 and just over 260 pounds. Simliarly both posses strong arm length of about 33 inches. They also both enter the league with experience playing standing up and with their hand in the dirt.
Floyd was much more polished than Fitts entering the league. However, the biggest knock on Fitts is durability. At Utah he was constantly banged up, which is depressing his draft stock. The talent is there for a capable starter on the edge.
When healthy Fitts flashed with his ability to play the edge. He possesses excellent lower body flexibility to get up field, run the arc and disrupt the pocket. There was also plenty of instances where he showed some excellent hand usage when fighting tackles on the outside. With an okay by medical staffs, Fitts could develop into a strong starter opposite Floyd in the Bears odd front.
