FanDuel Picks and lineup for Sunday, April 1st
Third Base, High-End Spend
Main Slate
Kris Bryant, $4,600
0 at-bats vs. Dillon Peters
The price is among the highest on the slate but I’ll always be interested when the Cubs stud gets to face a very poor lefty pitcher. Make no mistake, there is nothing in Dillon Peters’ limited track record in the majors to suggest he’s anything other than a bad pitcher. Bryant went nuts with 30+ FanDuel points on Friday and it wouldn’t be a shock if he did it again today. He’s worth every penny and will almost surely be in the sample lineup later.
All Day
Jose Ramirez, $4,000
.500/.600/1.250 with 1 HR in 4 at-bats
The Cleveland superstar is hitless so far and that’s not going to last very long. Mike Leake is just an average major leaguer at this point (if not worse) and Ramirez provides a pretty nice pivot against what might be a chalky his Bryant. A breakout game is coming and he could make a big difference in a big GPP tournament.
Mid-Range
Main Slate
Mike Moustakas, $3,500
.222/.222/.899 with 2 HRs in 9 at-bats
One of the reasons Bryant is so attractive is because of the lack of any real middle class at third base today. The best option of the bunch is likely Moustakas as he does hit righties better and Reynaldo hasn’t put things together at the major league level yet. Chicago hopes he can develop into a high end pitcher but her know his ERA is approaching 5.00 and he has a WHIP of 1.44. If you’re looking to save, Moustakas is your man.
All Day
Anthony Rendon, $3,400
0 at-bats vs. Sal Romano
The Nationals third baseman is in almost the exact same spot as Ryan Zimmerman. He’s a very reasonable price and he can rack up points in a hurry given the ball park and pitcher he’s up against today. Guys like Trea Turner and Bryce Harper are also in the mix but their tag is considerably higher.
Value
Main Slate
Third base drops off pretty quickly. This is one of the main reasons Bryant and Moustakas stand out above the pack, Bryant especially.
All Day
Eugenio Suarez, $2,500
.500/.556/.875 with 1 HR in 8 at-bats
He hit a late home run during yesterday’s high scoring affair and he could very well do it again. Gio Gonzalez isn’t quite as good as his stats were last season and Suarez is better against lefties. He’s in a good park plus has a positive matchup and a very cheap price point. Much like the other options, it’s hard to move away from Bryant. Suarez is in the small pool of players that are a viable alternative.
