Third Round

Even though the Saints won’t have a second-round pick this year, they can still get a promising edge player in the latter part of the third round. Former Auburn Tigers standout Jeff Holland should be available for New Orleans at No. 91.

Holland is 6-foot-2, 249 pounds. He has 33 1/2 inch arms and 10 1/2 inch hands. At the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Holland ran a 4.79 40-yard dash. While he did not lift at the combine, he did post a broad jump of 116 inches. Holland is one of those players that just finds a way to wreak havoc on the defensive side of the ball. He could be a great disruptor professionally as he was in college.

During his three years down on The Plains, Holland had 71 total tackles (43 solo, 28 assists), 18.0 for a loss of yardage, 12.5 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one pass breakup. Holland’s rise to prominence as a junior with Auburn helped the Tigers win the SEC West in 2017.

Overall, Holland isn’t going to light up the stats sheet as a football player. That being said, he will find ways to be positively impactful on each down. He might be a tad undersized, but could end up being a versatile player out on the end in Dennis Allen’s defense. Simply put, Holland is a gamer and Sean Payton should be excited about that.
