FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup – April 2, 2018
Second Base, High End Spend
Early Slate
Brian Dozier, $4,000
0 at-bats vs. Jameson Taillon
I virtually ignored Dozier yesterday only to watch him hit two home runs through the day. His price rose accordingly and he’s very expensive against a good pitcher. Taillon generally keeps the ball in the yard, as he gave up just 11 home runs all of last season. A bat like Dozier can wreck a short slate but it likely won’t be where I go today.
Main Slate
I’m likely not spending up to him, but Jose Altuve($4,500) is far and away the most expensive option at the position. He’s white-hot to start the 2018 season and you can’t go wrong playing him. It’s just I’m willing to spend money elsewhere.
Mid-Range
Early Slate
Josh Harrison, $3,200
.357/.385./.655 with 2 HRs in 29 at-bats
One of the best hitters left in the Pirates lineup, Harrison has come out of the gates well and hit a home run in the second game of yesterday’s doubleheader. Harrison gets to come into his home park and gets to see a familiar foe, Lance Lynn. We have nearly a 30 at-bat sample size since Lynn pitched for the Cardinals for a few years and Harrison has gotten the upper hand a good bit. He’s at a reasonable price which helps afford the power in the early slate.
Main Slate
Jason Kipnis, $2,900
1.000/1.000/3.000 with 0 HR in 1 at-bat
The Indians second baseman gets a neutral matchup tonight with J.C. Ramirez. He doesn’t strike out a lot of people and Kipnis should have a relatively safe floor. He’s better against righties, although if you look at his 2017 stats, they’re not impressive. He fought through a lot of injuries last year so there not the most indicative of his talent.
Value
Early Slate
Neil Walker, $2,700
N/A
I will almost surely have four New York bats in this lineup in some shape or form. Walker is in that conversation at a very affordable price. It’s jut a matter of which four you want to chase.
Main Slate
Scott Kingery, $2,600
0 at-bats vs. Matt Harvey
The youngster has hit well in his two starts so far. There’s not a lot of advanced data to draw from here past Matt Harvey hasn’t been very good these past couple years. He did look better in spring training but it’ll take more than that to prove he’s back.
