Outfield, High End Spend

All Day

Nicholas Castellanos, $3,900

0 at-bats vs. Jakob Junis

I’m really not prioritizing outfield on the early only slate, so by default that’s kind of the same train of thought for the all day slate. Especially if you’re paying up for Chris Sale, outfield is a reasonable spot to save some money. The Tigers outfielder has been scorching hot since the season started and the matchup isn’t exactly bad. Junis is pretty unproven at the MLB level.

In Consideration – Giancarlo Stanton, $4,400 and Mookie Betts, $3,900

Main Slate

Bryce Harper, $4,600

.459/.556/1.108 with 7 HRs in 37 at-bats

So at the start of the season, we said that batter vs. pitcher data was a tool and not some magical thing that would be a slam dunk. If there was a night where BvP data pointed us in a certain direction, it’s Harper vs. Braves pitcher Julio Teheran. Harper is on the road but SunTrust Park plays very well for left-handed hitters. He’s mashed Teheran throughout his career, possibly because he’s great at hitting the four seam and slider. I’ll be making every possible effort to get the superstar in the lineup tonight.

Mid-Range

All Day

Mitch Haniger, $3,000

0 at-bats vs. Ty Blach

I likely won’t go with a full Mariners stack in the early only, but Haniger is definitely an attractive piece in their offense right now. He’s hitting over .500 to start the year and was in the middle of a solid campaign last year before injuries wrecked his season. Haniger does have reverse splits through his career but his price point is still low enough to take a chance against a lefty on the mound.

In Consideration – Billy Hamilton, $2,800(he’s a terrible hitter but if he gets on, he’s stealing at least two bases)

Main Slate

Josh Reddick, $2,600

.66/.667/1.000 with 0 HR in 3 at-bats

I just can’t quit Reddick when he’s up against a mediocre righty. He paid off yesterday in the fifth slot and now Correa has every chance to not play today. Mike Wright only pitched 25 innings in 2017, but his home run to fly ball rate was over 20 percent and he gave up hard contact almost 40 percent of the time. Those aren’t the numbers you want to take into facing one of the best lineups in baseball. Reddick should be able to get his today.

In Consideration – Ender Inciarte, $3,300 and Nomar Mazara, $2,600

Value

All Day

Andrew McCutchen, $2,500

0 at-bats vs. Marco Gonzales

This is the same type of play as Jose Ramirez. McCutchen might not be the same player he used to be, but he’s far overdue for a big game. His career numbers against lefties include a .412 wOBA and a .317 batting average. He’s still too good to stay down for long.

Main Slate

Hunter Renfroe,

.333/.333/.500 with 0 HR in 6 at-bats

If you read the article over the weekend, we play Renfroe any time the Padres draw a lefty. He paid off with an RBI triple that night and you just can’t ignore how well he hits lefties when he’s at such a cheap price. In 2017, Renfroe was top 10 in OPS and second in wOBA vs. lefties. The only player he trailed? Giancarlo Stanton. He’s a key cog to help afford a big arm that’s on the slate tonight.

In Consideration – Andrew Benintendi, $2,500
