1.  Jonathan Villar, 2B, Milwaukee Brewers

After a breakout 2016 campaign (.285, 19 home runs, 63 RBI, 92 runs scored and a major league-leading 62 stolen bases), Villar fell off across the board last year (.241, 11 home runs, 40 RBI and 23 steals) as he lost his starting job.

But Villar is off to a nice start this year, hitting .304 with two stolen bases and two RBI over 23 at-bats. Perhaps most importantly, he has started five of six games and played enough to get three at-bats in the other contest.

Villar has not yet drawn a walk this season, and he strikes out way too much (eight times so far this year, 306 times in 2016 and 2017 combined). But if he can find a way to make more contact, and work a walk more than accidentally (9 percent career walk rate), a move to one of the first couple spots in the Brewers’ lineup could follow.

Villar has legitimate 50-steal upside, with the potential for notable contributions in batting average and runs scored. Given how scarce that level of stolen bases have become, and how shallow second base can be in fantasy, that’s upside to see about on the waiver wire right now.
