WWE WrestleMania 34: Preview and predictions

WWE Championship Match: AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

I’ve alluded to this match on a number of occasions throughout this preview and for good reason. AJ Styles facing Shinsuke Nakamura is something that we’ve seen before, albeit in New Japan Pro Wrestling and not in WWE. While that’s true, it’s worth noting that their last meeting in NJPW is one of the most legendary and most memorable matches that we’ve seen in the sport in quite some time. What’s more, they’ve never faced off on a stage like the one that WrestleMania 34 will give them.

Put simply, Styles and Nakamura are two of the very best in the world at this whole pro wrestling thing. Both possess the ability to perform in numerous styles of matches and to get the crowd behind them as they do so. What’s more, they’ve also done a phenomenal job of building up to this match in recent months since Nakamura was able to win the 2018 Royal Rumble. They’ve brought up the history between these two, the stakes for this match on Sunday night, and the all-important legacy of each wrestler moving forward.

Because of all of this, you could feasibly see either Styles or Nakamura getting the win on Sunday night in New Orleans. However, the simple fact is that the current champ, Styles, has less to gain from a win than the King of Strong Style. This is the moment that Nakamura has been waiting on since arriving in WWE, and it’ll happen for him on Sunday.
