Universal Championship Match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns

The fact that this is the main event is really disappointing overall. No, it’s not because Roman Reigns is being force-fed down the throats of fans again. Yes, that is happening, but that’s not the reason that this main event match is such a bummer. Instead, it’s due to the man that Reigns will be challenging for the Universal Championship on Sunday night at WrestleMania 34, Brock Lesnar.

Since returning to WWE, there’s no question that The Beast Incarnate has been billed and booked as an unconquerable force. After all, the last time that Lesnar and Reigns faced off at Mania, they had to have Seth Rollins cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase and win the title three years ago to both protect Lesnar and keep the crowd from burning down Levi’s Stadium by giving Reigns the win.

This time around, however, there is simply no Lesnar to protect. And yes, they’ve done a quality job of blurring the lines between the script and reality when it comes to Lesnar. However, it’s obvious that he’s gone from the company soon after Mania and heading back to UFC. Thus, it’s pretty clear how this match is going to end up. Reigns will finally triumph and be the one to tame the Beast.

It’s not even that outcome that is unfortunate. Reigns is good — better than he’s given credit for — and will be in this position at some point regardless. At least they gave us a compelling story to get here. However, it’s sad that what’s going to happen is so obvious and that such an obvious moment is going to end the biggest show of the year.

Prediction: Roman Reigns wins
