High End Spend: Kris Bryant ($4,100) — .400/.438/1.067 with 3 HR in 15 at-bats

Speaking of Cubbies that own the Milwaukee Brewer starter, let’s get to Kris Bryant. He’s one of the premier power hitters in the game and he’s in a great park. Bryant will always be a high-priced player. Today is going to be one of the days we have to think about spending the money on him given his track record against Anderson. It’s made a little easier by the fact that Coors Field snit on the slate so there’s fewer expensive bats to spend on.

In consideration: Miguel Sano, $4,400

Mid-Range: Matt Davidson ($3,300) — 0 at-bats vs. Mike Fiers

I would normally not really consider Davison at this price tag and facing a righty. However, he gets to square off against Mike Fiers making his first start of the season. With the Astros last year, Fiers was a low strikeout pitcher and he gave up a healthy amount of fly balls. He generated very few ground balls while giving up hard contact nearly 33 percent of the time. In a *very* small sample size this season, Davison is hitting righties at a .400 clip. That’s in stark contrast to his career numbers but he’s definitely swinging a very hot bat by his standards.

In consideration: Matt Carpenter, $3,400

Value: Miguel Andujar ($2,200) — 0 at-bats vs. Mike Wright

We have a very limited track record for both players here as Andujar is just breaking into the majors and Wright only has pitched a handful of innings. In his 149+ career innings, Wright has surrendered a fly ball almost 40 percent of the time and matched it with a hard contact rate of 32 percent. That is just a horrible match with Yankee Stadium and Andujar is priced as a pure punt. Seeing as how we’ll likely want at least one big name Bronx Bomber at some point, Andujar can help us get there.
