5 reasons why Toronto Maple Leafs will win Stanley Cup

4. Offensive Depth
The Leafs’ offensive capabilities are no longer a secret in the league. The Leafs are defined by their run and gun style of hockey that sees the Buds creating many opportunities with high shot volumes and unique methods of attack. Now, all of this is great, but what sets the Leafs apart from many teams in the league is the staggering amount of forward depth that the Leafs have.
The Leafs offense can run with anyone at any time, and Mike Babcock has created an offensive juggernaut that can run all four lines and not slow down. Three of the Leafs’ lines have 30-goal scorers (James van Reimsdyk, Auston Matthews and Nazem Kadri), which makes them the only team in league with that distinction. Each line is consistent but attacks you in different ways.
The Matthews line has seen amazing success when together as they are one of the most proficient even strength lines in the entire league. All three line members have seen their most success with regards to points in even strength situations (Matthews 63/13, Hyman 40/2 and Nylander 61/12).
The Kadri line has been the hottest line for the team over the last two months. Kadri recovered from his awful slump near Christmas and now has broken the-30 goal mark for the second time in his career. Marner leads the Leafs in points, broke his own personal career records for points and has been the key point producer for the Leafs through Auston Matthews’ injuries. Patrick Marleau recorded 27 goals and shows no signs of slowing down at 38, he will be crucial in the playoffs for the Leafs as he brings substantial veteran playoff experience.
The JVR line has been hot down the stretch, led by none other than a red hot James van Reimsdyk who is cementing himself a very nice paycheck come free agency. He leads the team in goals with 36 and will be leaned upon heavily for his great ability to score in front of the net that not many players possess. Bozak has been contributing nicely as well with JVR as they both been playing with former line mate Mitch Marner on the power play.
