5 free agents the Dallas Stars can sign to get back to the playoffs

No. 3: David Perron
The easy choice for forward here would be Evander Kane. But he’s far too young and talented. This upcoming free agent market, he’s going to get paid by the truckload. Besides, we already have someone else on this list who Dallas can dream about.
Left winger David Perron, who spent this season with Vegas, put up career numbers for a team that ultimately won the Pacific Division (66 points). He’s 29, so he isn’t as young as some may want, but if you need depth and you want to win now, age shouldn’t be the biggest factor (see their signing of Radulov). Someone could pay Perron big dollars for his performance this year, or he could fly under the radar due to the other names available.
His health is also going to be a factor, so Dallas should not sign Perron hoping he will fix the entirety of their depth problems. But he’s a talented winger who’s capable of popping 20 goals and 60 points, so this might be a serious play to examine if Dallas feels they can move one of their top three to the second line and get equal production out of both.
It’s a play coach Ken Hitchcock tried to use the whole season without success. Mostly for the fact that they desperately need at least one more playmaker to pair with Benn or Radulov, should they choose to start either one on line two.
Out of all of the signings they could potentially make, this one feels the most likely to happen. It maybe the one they really need to go for.
