FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup – April 10, 2018
Second Base, High End Spend
Brian Dozier, $4,300
.455/.455/.818 with 2 HR in 11 at-bats
The second baseman for the Twins has destroyed Dallas Keuchel in their encounters. While Keuchel is one of the better pitchers in MLB, he did give up a massive HR/FB ratio last season. He’s a ground ball pitcher but when batters get the ball lifted, it can get out of the park. For Dozier, he’s always smashed lefties in his career. His ISO alone is over .250 which is incredibly high. The wOBA is also out of this world at .377. Dozier is the best power threat at his position and is definitely in play despite the big name he squares off against.
Also Consider – Zach Cozart, $3,800
Mid-Range
Whit Merrifield, $2,800
.250/.250/1.000 with 1 HR in 4 at-bats
Yes, Merrifield was featured in this spot yesterday but for some reason, the price dropped $300 on the Royals second baseman and he draws Felix Hernandez, who has looked very poor so far this season. He has an ERA over 7 and a WHIP over 1.60. He also can’t strike anyone out and is giving up fly balls at an alarming rate in his two starts so far. The splits don’t work out in Merrifield’s favor exactly but sometimes they can be put aside when there’s a tomato can on the mound. A professional hitter like Merrifield should be in good shape once again, and I’ll gladly take the discount after he put up 18+ FanDuel points last night.
Also Consider – Jed Lowrie, $3,300
Value
Kike Hernandez, $2,500
0 at-bats vs. Sean Manaea
Even though I do like Manaea quite a bit tonight, one of the bats that could potentially do some damage is Kike Hernandez. He’s excellent in his career against lefties with an OPS of .866 and a wOBA of .367. The price tag is right for him in this matchup and both players are capable of having a good game. If you decide to pay down at second base, this is the spot to look at.
Also Consider – Jonathan Villar, $2,400(BvP data)
