FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup – April 10, 2018
Third Base, High End Spend
Matt Chapman, $4,000
0 at-bats vs. Hyun-Jin Ryu
Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado does get another lefty at home but it’s going to be hard to pay $5,400 for him with the sour taste of his three point dud last night out of our mouth. Arenado isn’t a bad play whatsoever, but I’m going to side with Matt Chapman tonight. His power is usually better against righties but Ryu has not shown he’s a good pitcher anymore. His fly ball rate has spiked to well over 30 percent and his hard contact given up has followed suit. When he’s up against a power lineup like the A’s, that’s a recipe for disaster. It seems odd to pay this price for Chapman but he’s swinging a hot bat right now.
Also Consider – Josh Donaldson, $4,100
Mid-Range
Maikel Franco, $3,300
0 at-bats vs. Homer Bailey
Oh my goodness, I can’t get enough of the big bats from Philly in the lineup today. Bailey has a K/9 of 4.22 so far. He’s coupled a ver low strikeout rate with a fly ball percentage of 42.1 and a hard contact percentage of 43.6(!!). Basically, his ERA of 4.22 and WHIP of 1.59 have actually been very lucky so far. Franco should be able to tee off tonight at a very reasonable price. He hits righties to the tune of .252 with an OPS of .723. That may not look like anything special but Franco and the Phillies are scoring in bunches right now. Bailey shouldn’t scare anyone at this juncture.
Also Consider – Mike Moustakas, $3,200
Value
There doesn’t appear to be any great value as of right now. Unless someone pops up once the lineup cards get turned in, it might be a spot where it makes sense to pay up a little bit or at least ride the middle of the price range.
