AFC EAST

This century has seen domination by one team in this division that hasn’t been replicated by any other team in any other division. The New England Patriots have won the division title in all but three seasons since the turn of the century, and will be looking to push their string of consecutive division titles to double digits in 2018. The slogans for the AFC East will start there.

New England Patriots honest slogan: “The Cheatriot Way.” Making the playoffs in 15 out of the last 17 seasons is an accomplishment that any NFL franchise would like to duplicate, but scandals have surrounded the franchise from “Deflategate” to “Spygate” along the way.

Buffalo Bills honest slogan: “Real New York.” Prior to the 2017 season, the Bills’ performances haven’t included much to warm the hearts of its fans. The franchise had recorded just two winning seasons since the turn of the century before nabbing a wild card spot last season. With little else to go on, why not play up the fact that the Bills are the only “New York” team which actually plays its home games in the state of New York?

Miami Dolphins honest slogan: “Naming Rights Revolving Door.” What really makes this franchise unique is how many times the naming rights to the stadium it calls home have changed hands. This will be the third year the venue has been called Hard Rock Stadium. For six seasons prior to that, it was known as Sun Life Stadium, which followed five seasons as Dolphins Stadium. Prior to that, it was called Pro Player Stadium for nine seasons.

New York Jets honest slogan: “Keeping It Simple.” The Jets have finished in last place in this division in consecutive seasons, and nothing exemplifies that futility more than the content of the fan cheer most iconic with the team. Fans simply spell out the team name and then repeat the team name three times, which is about as elaborate as the offensive scheme that’s led to consecutive 5-11 finishes.
