Outfield, High End Spend

Early

Aaron Judge, $4,800

.333/.500/1.333 with 1 HR in 3 at-bats

If there’s one player I may try to jam in with Scherzer, it might be Aaron Judge. He’s on another level against lefties so far this year. It’s only 13 plate appearances, but his average is .556 with a 1.692 OPS, .444 ISO and a .681 wOBA. I can’t even put into words how great those numbers are. He’s pricey, as he should be. There still could be just enough value to make it work today.

Also Consider – Mookie Betts, $4,600 and Marcell Ozuna, $4,200

Main

Michael Conforto, $4,000

.200/.333/.800 with 1 HR in 5 at-bats

You can always go Mike Trout, but the price is sky high and I can’t do it. Gregory Polanco is lava-hot but does face a lefty. We’ll side with Conforto, who has made a swift recovery from shoulder surgery. His career numbers against righties include an OPS of .905, an ISO of .205 and a wOBA of .381. He’s at home against an average pitcher and deserves his high price tag for tonight.

Also Consider –  Mike Trout, $5,400 and Starling Marte, $3,700

Mid-Range

Early

Brett Gardner, $3,200

.333/.429/.500 with 0 HR in 18 at-bats

Normally we won’t attack too many lefty-lefty matchups but this one is interesting. Gardner sits atop an excellent lineup and could definitely find himself on base multiple times. If that happens, having the trio of Stanton, Judge, and Sanchez behind him gives him a pretty reasonable shot of scoring some runs. He could be a little difficult to play with Judge but could work as the highest paid outfielder in a balanced lineup.

Also Consider – Adam Jones, $3,100 and Byron Buxton, $2,800

Main

Khris Davis, $3,600

.000/.000/.000 with 0 HR in 2 at-bats

Davis has hit three bombs in his past two games and when a bat like his gets hot, he can carry a squad for a week or two at a clip. Davis is a little scary because the floor is low but his career numbers against lefties include an OPS over .800, an ISO of .260 and a wOBA of .248. Marco Gonzalez is giving up hard contact 53.1 percent of the time and is allowing a 40 percent HR/FB ratio and that’s with only giving up a fly ball 15.6 percent of the time. Basically, if the ball gets into the air, it’s got a great chance to leave the park and that’s what Davis excels at.

Also Consider – Andrew McCutchen, $3,400 and Mitch Haniger, $3,400

Value

Early

Jesse Winker, $2,600

N/A

I’m really hoping Winker is healthy for today because he smashes right handed pitching. Mile Mikolas has been fine since he returned to the majors but nothing that is totally scary. Last season saw him rack up an OPS over 1.000 and a wOBA of .438. If he’s in the lineup for the Reds, odds are he’ll be in mine as well. We’ve got to save money somewhere.

Also Consider – Pedro Alvarez, $2,300

Main

Joc Pederson, $2,300

.455/.500/.636 with 0 HR in 11 at-bats

Pinch your nose and take a look at Pederson based off of the BvP data here. He’s not that good of a player but he’s at least on the better side of his splits, even if that doesn’t say much. His career does at least suggest he brings the power and the price tag can’t get much lower. If he scores six or more points, it’s a win.

Also Consider – Hunter Renfroe, $2,700
