30 biggest answers for the 2017-18 NBA season
20. Can the Minnesota Timberwolves talent overcome their jerseys?
What I Said Then: I hope the Timberwolves are good for the sake of Minnesota fans. I would hate for them to have to endure a bad looking product on the court wearing a bad looking product on their bodies.
What I’m Saying Now: It took until the last game of the season, but the Timberwolves earned the right to be swept by the Houston Rockets in the first round.
Despite making the playoffs for the first time since 2004, the Timberwolves didn’t exactly play an exciting brand of basketball. Their offense relied heavily on Jimmy Butler making tough shots, Karl-Anthony Towns was not utilized nearly enough, and that Andrew Wiggins contract is looking worse with every shot he takes.
But hey, at least they signed Derrick Rose.
Had Butler not been injured, I’m likely writing about a team that finished third or fourth in the West. Despite their defensive woes and Tom Thibodeau playing guys 40 minutes on back-to-back nights, Minnesota was a formidable team when healthy.
And you know what, those neon green jerseys that looked so bad to start the season, kind of grew on me. It helped that Towns would pair them with slick neon green sneakers. More teams should should adopt the neon look. Take the Miami Heat. Their dark jerseys were nothing special, but those Miami Vice jerseys? Top one jersey in the entire league.
Next year, all teams should have a neon element in their jerseys. Failure to incorporate neon will result in removal from the league.
That team should sign Derrick Rose.
