30 biggest answers for the 2017-18 NBA season
19. Who will lead the league in scoring?
What I Said Then: If you’re looking for a scoring leader, it might be best to start there. Davis’ point production went down slightly with the arrival of DeMarcus Cousins and it’s possible that those two take away from each other. DeRozan remains in Toronto with Kyle Lowry and we know DeRozan will get his points in that system. If he does add the long rumored 3-point shot, he could be a sneaky pick to lead the league in scoring.
Or just go with James Harden because you know he’s salty about never winning a scoring title.
What I’m Saying Now: If you took salty James Harden, congratulations on your winning ticket. With the injury to Cousins, Davis was right behind him. Meanwhile, DeRozan finished 11th. It’s a testament to DeRozan that he was willing to change his game to fit in Toronto’s new system. He took less shots overall and more threes. Toronto spread the ball around and relied on their bench more than any other team in the league. It worked, but we’ll get to them later.
Harden benefitted from Chris Paul missing time early in the season, but he still averaged nearly 30 points a game alongside Paul. He was the fuel for the best offense in the league and became the most dangerous offensive player in the league.
That said, Harden should not have led the league in scoring.
He should be in jail for murdering a man on the court. We should not be talking about him finally winning MVP. We should be wondering if he’s going to get released early for good behavior. What he did to Wesley Johnson was uncalled for. He walked into that mans home, laid on the couch with his dirty shoes on and proceeded to go all Rick James on that couch.
Then he made the man clean his own couch before Ned Starking him.
The disrespect.
