2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen heads to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers were thought to be a Super Bowl contender last season, but all of those hopes went out the window when Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone. While they did not make the postseason last year, they did the year before, where they lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC title game. With Rodgers back in 2018, the Packers will be back in the hunt, but they need to improve their secondary.
One area they will upgrade via the NFL Draft is at the cornerback position. Josh Jackson from Iowa led the FBS in interceptions last season, and proved to be quite the ballhawk for the Hawkeyes. He took a major step forward in his development as a player, and really turned himself into a first round prospect in the upcoming draft.
During their NFC title game loss to the Falcons, the Packers secondary was carved up by Matt Ryan. The unit did not improve last season either, which puts some emphasis on making the defensive backfield better in the draft. They may have the talent to win the NFC North, but without a playmaker in the secondary, they are going to find it hard to get out of the conference.
