2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen heads to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Los Angeles Chargers are a sexy pick to win the AFC West next season, as they made quite the run towards the playoffs in 2017. While they fell just short of making the postseason, it was an incredible effort, as they nearly became the second team to start out 0-4 and make the playoffs. Still, heading into 2018, they have a ton of talent on both sides of the ball, and should be the favorite to at least win their division.
While Philip Rivers is still a quality quarterback, he needs some help in front of him on the offensive line. When it comes to offensive tackles in this draft class, there is none better than Mike McGlinchey from Notre Dame. McGlinchey could have been a first round selection last year, but he returned to Notre Dame, and teamed with Quenton Nelson to give the Fighting Irish the best offensive line in college football.
The Chargers have an incredible sack combo in Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa, so they should have no issues getting after the quarterback next season. In addition, they made a nice move by bringing in center Mike Pouncey, solidifying the middle of their offensive line. McGlinchey makes a lot of sense at No. 17, and if they can get him, they should have the talent up front to give Rivers plenty of time in 2018.
