2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen heads to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions nearly made the playoffs for the second straight season in 2017, as they fell just short of winning a Wild Card spot. Prior to the year, they made quarterback Matthew Stafford the highest-paid player in the NFL, and he responded by playing very productive football once again. The offense for Detroit should be solid once again in 2018, but their defense needs help against the pass.
Detroit has already brought Ziggy Ansah, and they should add some talent around him in the pass rush. One player who could be available at No. 20 is Marcus Davenport, who is an explosive edge rusher from UTSA. Davenport has the talent to be a double-digit sack guy at the next level, and the Lions needs all the help they can get in a tough NFC North.
If the Lions hope to win the division, they have some tough competition in 2018. Aaron Rodgers will be back healthy for Green Bay, and the Vikings just went to the NFC title game. In addition, Chicago made a bunch of nice moves with their roster, so it is a coin flip on how this things shakes out. The Lions have good talent on both sides of the ball, and now they just have to put it all together.
