2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen heads to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The New Orleans Saints failed to win more than seven games in the three years leading up to 2017, and it looked like head coach Sean Payton was out the door. However, they rebounded in a big way last season, winning the NFC South, and getting Drew Brees and company back to the playoffs. Looking forward to 2018, they have to be considered a favorite in the NFC, especially with how this roster is shaping up.
After relying on Brees to do much of the damage in recent years, the Saints had a punishing rushing attack last season. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram led the way on the ground, and Michael Thomas was the big weapon once again in the passing game. In the first round next Thursday, the Saints should bring in another weapon in tight end Mike Gesicki from Penn State.
This Saints team is going to score points, but Brees needs the pass-catching tight end he has not had since Jimmy Graham left town. If the Saints decide to go after Gesicki, they will be getting a tight end with incredible physical gifts. Imagine how many different ways the Saints could go once they get into the red zone with Brees having a legitimate target at the tight end position in place next season.
