Third Base, High End Spend

Todd Frazier, $4,000

N/A

The only real choice if you decide to pay up at third base this evening is Todd Frazier. His price seems high but he’s been on fire to start the 2018 season. Now he draws a start against Matt Wisler, as Anibal Sanchez injured his hamstring yesterday. Wisler is nothing special by any metric and Frazier has been crushing righty pitching so far this season. His average is over .310, his OPS is over 1.000 and his wOBA is up over .400. The veteran should be able to keep the good times rolling for at least one more night.

Also Consider – Rafael Devers, $3,500

Mid-Range

Ryan Flaherty, $3,100

N/A

Talk about a veteran player who is just smashing a certain type of pitcher. Flaherty has basically come out of nowhere to hammer right handed pitching so far this year to the tune of a .364 average, .906 OPS, and a .387 wOBA. With Harvey giving up so much hard contact along with enough fly balls for offenses to do some damage, Flaherty is in just the right spot to make everything work in a lineup. Sun Trust Park also plays much better for lefty hitters, which should only help Flaherty get a ball into the seats. Let’s face it, Harvey isn’t anything special at this point in his career. Flaherty has been white hot to start the 2018 campaign and he could do it again tonight.

Value

There’s nobody that sticks out in this range at the moment. Colin Moran could be in play against Arrieta but that’s nothing special. Our standby punt option, Daniel Descalso, is facing a lefty so it’s not a great matchup. The same goes for young Johan Camargo for the Braves. It’s too bad he’s not facing a lefty because that would be interesting at just $2,300. At least before lineup cards get sent in, I’m likely to roll with Flaherty in my main lineup.
