Back in the 1980s, the 49ers and Rams had one of the best rivalries in football. That slowed down something fierce in the ’90s and ’00s because either one of both were truly awful. Now, finally, the two teams are both competitive again, making it an easy choice for the NFL to put them against each other in a primetime game.

San Francisco might not be on the level of Los Angeles yet, but the game is in Santa Clara. Look for Kyle Shanahan to get creative with his gameplan, trying to take advantage of the aggressiveness of Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters. After years of being in the doldrums, both these teams deserve to be playing in front of a national audience.
