The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins in Game 4 of their first-round series. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.

On Monday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs played a game in which they finally looked like legitimate Stanley Cup contenders. After getting dominated by the Boston Bruins’ devastating lineup in Games 1 and 2, a trip back home to the Air Canada Centre provided the boys in blue and white with an opportunity to alter the dynamic of the series. Clutch performances from Auston Matthews, Frederik Andersen, Patrick Marleau, Morgan Rielly and Tomas Plekanec allowed the Buds to take Game 3 with a 4-2 victory.

As a result, Thursday night’s matchup could very well be the most important game of the series. It promises to serve as a momentum-shifter, as both teams look to ride a tide of confidence into everyone’s favorite battle — Saturday night hockey.

They key for Boston will be capitalizing on missed opportunities. As Toronto fans continue to celebrate a much-needed victory, it’s more apparent than ever that Monday night’s matchup came down to the fact that the Leafs made their shots count, while the Bruins did not. Look for Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak to clock in big minutes, as burying chances shall likely act as the avenue through which the Bruins usher forward a victory. Just ask Boston fans: a win in Game 4 would undoubtedly set the stage for a commanding finale.

For Toronto, the stakes surrounding Thursday night are higher than ever before. A second win on home ice would be massive for the Leafs, as they look to play with energy that was missing from previous games. The margin for error, however, is slim. If the Buds are serious about winning this series — let alone contending for the Cup — then the Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak pairing must be shut down. Plekanec’s two-way presence was the difference-maker in Game 3. As such, the question remains: can he do it again?
