Frank Gallagher

In baseball, you have to learn how to pass the time and maximize your talent. There aren’t too many schemes involved in baseball. Sure, you may use a shift against certain players and you have to decide if you want your guy to swing away on a 3-0 count or take a pitch. But the Xs and Os are rather limited compared to what you get in other sports.

Frank Gallagher doesn’t have time for elaborate scheming. He does it. He thinks he does it well. But it always fails. There’s not a single Frank Gallagher scheme that works out in his favor.

The great thing about Gallagher is, he’s going to try. You may think you’ve seen everything in baseball, but I bet Gallagher has something new up his sleeve. How about bunting with the bases loaded and one out? Don’t put something like that past Gallagher.

His biggest flaw is that he’s unreliable. There’s a 60 percent chance he doesn’t show up to the game and is found outside the ballpark in a puddle of his own vomit. Scratch that. There’s a 73 percent chance of that happening.

Best Fit: Atlanta Braves

I don’t have a good reason for sticking Gallagher on the Atlanta Braves other than they need some kind of spark. After being one of the best franchises in the league throughout the ’90s and into the ’00s, they’ve become an afterthought in recent years.

They need some kind of spark. They need a man with half-baked ideas and quarter-baked execution. Gallagher won’t bring a World Series back to Atlanta, but he’ll have the Braves second behind the television show when people mention the best things about Atlanta.
