2018 NFL Mock Draft: Sam Darnold goes to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Oakland Raiders came into the 2017 season with a ton of expectations, as some experts predicted they would make it to the Super Bowl. Well, they finished the year with a 6-10 mark, cutting their win total in half from the year before. All areas of the team took a major step back, and head coach Jack Del Rio was fired immediately after the team’s embarrassing Week 17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Enter Jon Gruden, who is making his second tour as head coach of the Silver and Black. Gruden and the front office have spent the offseason re-shaping this roster, and will have 11 picks to choose from in the 2018 NFL Draft. Their first selection should be a defensive player, and Minkah Fitzpatrick should be available at No. 10 overall this Thursday.
Fitzpatrick would be a solid addition to this roster, as he can do so many things in a defensive backfield. He showed his versatility at Alabama by playing both cornerback, and safety, and was one of the hardest working players in the program. He is going to be a Pro Bowl player at the next level, and while Oakland has spent the offseason bringing in defensive backs, they should not hesitate to pull the trigger and draft Fitzpatrick at No. 10.
