FanDuel MLB Lineup and Picks for Wednesday, April 25
Third Base, High End Spend
Mike Moustakas, $4,000
.500/.500/.833 with 0 HR in 6 at-bats
One of the bats I’m very interested in playing tomorrow, even with the big spend of Kershaw, is Mike Moustakas. For someone who didn’t have a spring training, it didn’t bother Moose at all. He’s been killing the ball and now gets to face Jhoulys Chacin, who can’t get lefty hitters out. Lefties have a .987 OPS and a .426 wOBA, which is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous are the numbers Moustakas has posted so far against righties — .362 average, 1.166 OPS and a .485 wOBA. Even though this game is in Kansas City, Moose has the power to leave any park he plays in.
Also Consider – Jeimer Candelario, $3,700
Mid-Range
Jedd Gyorko, $3,200
.000/.000/.000 with 0 HR in 4 at-bats
There’s plenty of merit to a mini-Cardinals stack with righty hitters as Mets starter Steven Matz has his troubles with righties. One of them that should be on the radar is Jedd Gyorko, as he’s hit lefties well in his career. His marks include an .800 OPS and a .345 wOBA. Those numbers are a little worse this year, and it’s fair to note that Matz has been better against righties so far as well. Still, we tend to side with track records over the long haul here. Gyorko is at a perfectly reasonable price tag and is one of the cheapest righties to play from St. Louis.
Also Consider – Daniel Robertson, $3,100
Value
David Freese, $2,300
.667/.667/.667 with 0 HR in 3 at-bats
The Buccos are playing a double-header today, and Freese will likely get the second game because there’s a lefty on the mound. Colin Moran usually doesn’t play against lefties and Freese has an awesome career mark against the handedness. His batting average is an even .300, the OPS is .839 and the wOBA is .364. Freese isn’t the player he used to be but he can be useful in certain spots against mediocre lefties.
